Emperor penguin and Antarctic fur seal declared Endangered
Emperor penguins and Antarctic fur seals have been listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List. Based on projections, emperor penguin population will halve by 2080s, driven by loss of sea ice. Meanwhile, reduced food availability has caused a 50% reduction in Antarctic fur seal population since 2000. "[It's a] wake-up call on the realities of climate change," IUCN said.
