Employee gets ₹3.36 lakh tax demand after employer fails to deposit TDS, tribunal grants relief

An Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has granted relief to a Mumbai-based employee who was hit with a ₹3.36 lakh tax demand after her employer failed to deposit TDS despite deducting it. Cancelling the tax demand, it also granted full credit of ₹3.91 lakh in TDS to the employee. It noted that the employer was liable to deposit deducted tax.
