Enable indigenously developed NavIC's support by 2023: Govt to smartphone makers

Centre has asked smartphone makers to enable support for indigenously developed 'NavIC' navigation system in new devices sold in India from 2023. NavIC, or Navigation with Indian Constellation, is an independent stand-alone navigation satellite system developed by Indian Space Research Organisation. NavIC must be promoted as relying on systems like GPS may not always be reliable, the Centre said.
