England have become the first team in Test cricket to score 500,000 runs, achieving the feat during the fourth Test against South Africa. The single by Joe Root off Beuran Hendricks in the 53rd over of England's first innings was the 500,000th run recorded for them in Tests. England took 1,022 Tests and over 143 years to reach the milestone.
