Entire idea of cash transfer to farmers stupid: Abhijit Sen

Former member of the erstwhile Planning Commission Abhijit Sen has said the "entire idea" of cash transfer of ₹6,000 per year to farmers is "stupid". He added the scheme announced in Interim Budget for small and marginal farmers is "regressive" and inefficient. It neither includes the poorest landless farmers nor does it seek to improve farm productivity, he further said.
