Equalise legal age of marriage for men and women: Plea in Delhi HC

BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay moved a plea in Delhi High Court seeking equalising of legal age of marriage for men and women, saying limit of 18 years for a woman amounts to "blatant discrimination". Upadhyay claimed the difference in minimum age was based on "patriarchal stereotypes". Notably, men in India are permitted to get married at 21.
