Ethiopia, Eritrea sever diplomatic ties amid northern violence

Ethiopia and Eritrea cut diplomatic ties Thursday, each blaming the other for fueling unrest. Ethiopia expelled 10 Eritrean diplomats and closed its Asmara embassy after accusing Eritrea of backing the TPLF. Eritrea mirrored the move. Hundreds have been killed since fighting resumed in northern Ethiopia, with TPLF forces pushing into Afar and Amhara states.
