Ethiopian leaders vowed to wipe out Tigrayans for 100 yrs: EU envoy

European Union Special Envoy and Finland's Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said the Ethiopian leadership told him in February that they were "going to wipe out the Tigrayans for 100 years". Such an aim to wipe out your national minority "looks...like ethnic cleansing", he added. Ethiopia dismissed Haavisto's comments as "ludicrous" and a "hallucination of sorts or a lapse in memory".
