EU criticises Pak for jailing human rights lawyers for 17 yrs over social media posts

The European Union expressed strong disapproval after Pakistan convicted human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha over their social media posts. EU said the convictions undermine freedom of expression and independence of lawyers. Pakistan rejected the criticism, saying the action was taken under national laws and is a "domestic affair". Imaan and Hadi were jailed for 17 years.
