EU imposes €3 fee on small parcels to curb Chinese imports

European Union on Wednesday imposed a €3 (₹324) customs charge on small parcels in an attempt to curb cheap imports from China that earlier entered Europe duty-free. EU in 2008 had introduced a tax exemption on low-value imports of up to €150 (₹16,203), with imports under the exemption reaching 5.8 billion in 2025. The €3 charge is temporary until 2028.
