EU nations to ban AI apps that create non-consensual deepfakes

European Union members on Thursday agreed to ban AI systems that generate non-consensual sexually explicit deepfakes or child sexual abuse material. "Women ​and girls will be safe from horrific 'nudifier' apps being widely ​available on ⁠the EU market," Dutch lawmaker Kim van Sparrentak said. The EU nations also agreed on mandatory watermarking of AI-generated output, Reuters reported.
