EU proposes energy & water disclosure rules for data centres

The European Commission proposed rules requiring data centres with 500 kW+ capacity to disclose energy and water efficiency using an EU labelling system. The move comes as the EU plans to triple data centre capacity in seven years to support AI growth, raising concerns over energy grid strain, water depletion, and rising CO2 emissions.
