European Union proposes ban on Russian coal amid new sanctions

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday said the EU is set to impose further sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine including a ban on Russian coal imports. "To take a clear stand is not only crucial for us in Europe but also for the rest of the world," Von der Leyen added.
