Even worked on day my daughter died: Chhattisgarh mid-day meal cook on strike over ₹66 wage

Mid-day meal workers in Chhattisgarh have been on an indefinite strike for 21 days, demanding an increase in their daily wages from ₹66 to ₹340. Sukrita Chavan, a cook who hasn't been paid since October 2025, said she worked even on the day her daughter died. Another cook, Meghraj Baghel, said he has taken ₹90,000-loan for his kids' education.
