Everest's 2,000-yr-old highest glacier may disappear by mid-century: Researchers

Researchers in Nepal have warned that the highest glacier on the top of Mount Everest could disappear by the mid-21st century. The ice of the South Cole glacier is thinning at a rate of almost two metres per year, International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) said. The estimated age of the ice of the glacier is 2,000 years old.
