Every 36 minutes, mental illness claims a life by suicide in India

NCRB 2024 data shows around 14,305 suicides linked to mental illness, averaging one every 36 minutes. Karnataka tops in India with 2,465 deaths, while Bengaluru alone recording 455. The 18–45 age group bore 60% of the burden. Children too were affected, with 844 deaths.
