Ex-IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt acquitted in 1997 case in Gujarat

Ex-IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was acquitted in a 1997 custodial torture case by a Gujarat court, citing that the prosecution couldn't "prove the case beyond reasonable doubt". Bhatt is serving life imprisonment for a 1990 custodial death case in Jamnagar. Additionally, he was sentenced to 20 years for planting drugs to frame a Rajasthan-based lawyer in a 1996 Palanpur case.
