Ex-US Navy officer jailed for 16 years for spying for China after mother's encouragement

A 25-year-old former US Navy officer has been sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for spying for China. A jury found Jinchao Wei guilty of selling sensitive technical and operational manuals to a Chinese intelligence officer. Wei, who received $12,000 (₹10.8 lakh) for sharing classified secrets, was encouraged by his mother to keep working with Chinese intelligence.
