Expert warns of hidden iron deficiency in urban kids

Many urban children may appear healthy yet suffer from hidden iron deficiency, warns Dr Prerana Nesargi, Lead Consultant in Pediatric Oncology and Haematology. Poor-quality diets, excess milk, rushed meals lower iron stores even with normal haemoglobin. Subtle signs like fatigue and poor focus are common. A ferritin test helps early detection, iron-rich foods and supplements can make be helpful.
