Ex-PM Shastri died a day after signing peace deal with Pak

Former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri had died on January 11, 1966, a day after he signed the Tashkent Agreement with Pakistani President Muhammad Ayub Khan. The agreement formally ended the 17-day Indo-Pak war of 1965. Shastri became the Prime Minister after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's death and is remembered for his slogan, "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan".
