Extreme heat, wildfires could cost EU ₹19.85 lakh crore in 2026: Report
According to a Triodos Bank analysis, extreme heat and wildfires could cost the European Union around $208 billion (₹19.85 lakh crore) in 2026. The amount equals roughly 1% of the EU’s GDP and the economic growth it expected this year. As Europe faces its fifth heat wave, wildfires have spread across Croatia, Britain, France and Greece, forcing thousands to evacuate.
