EY, FICCI suggest GST cut on hotel rooms priced above ₹7,500 to 9%

A joint report by EY India and FICCI recommended cutting GST on premium hotel rooms priced above ₹7,500 per night from 18% to 9%. This would improve India's price competitiveness compared to countries such as Thailand and Vietnam and boost inbound tourism, the report stated. However, it suggested retaining the existing 5% GST for rooms priced between ₹1,000 and ₹7,500.
