Facebook building own OS to end reliance on Android: Report

Facebook is reportedly building its own operating system (OS) in a bid to reduce reliance on the Google-owned Android platform. Facebook's smartphone apps will remain available on Android, while its OS would primarily be for hardware like Oculus or augmented reality glasses, the report suggested. It also suggested that Facebook is hoping to take a similar approach to Apple.
