Feathered dinosaurs had reptile-like scales, bird-like skin: Study
Feathered dinosaurs like Psittacosaurus had reptile-like scales alongside bird-like skin, new research stated. Researchers examined a well-preserved fossil donated to a Chinese university under ultraviolet light. The findings shed light on skin evolution and show "zoned development" on skin with scaly, reptile-like skin in featherless regions and soft, bird-like skin where feathers were present.
