Felling of 4,000 trees for road project halted after protests in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami has said that the felling of trees for the proposed Dehradun–Rishikesh 4/6-lane road project will remain suspended until a satisfactory consensus is reached among stakeholders. Reportedly, over 4,000 trees were proposed to be cut, sparking protests from residents. His office said the proceedings were being carried out in compliance with the directions of High Court.
