FIDE to reimburse teams after accommodation row at Chess Olympiad

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has apologised after accommodation problems at the Chess Olympiad 2026 in Uzbekistan's Samarkand left some teams without suitable rooms and forced them to arrange and pay for alternative accommodation in the city. FIDE also announced reimbursements and compensatory payments for the affected teams. The event is being held from September 15 to 27.
