FIFA mandates female coach or assistant for all women's events

FIFA Council approved legislation mandating teams to include at least two women in backroom staff, with one as head or assistant coach at women's events. It applies across all of FIFA's youth and senior women's football tournaments, national team competitions and club competitions. Notably, just 12 head coaches were women out of 32 at FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.
