FIFA President Infantino's adviser Cordeiro resigns over proposal to sell World Cup stake
Carlos Cordeiro, senior adviser to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, resigned with immediate effect, opposing a proposal to sell up to 20% of a $20-billion subsidiary controlling the World Cup and other events. Calling it “a bad deal for football”, Cordeiro said FIFA had enough reserves and revenue to support member associations without selling its most valuable asset to outside investors.
