FIFA responds to backlash over World Cup private equity plan, says ‘Nobody is selling football’

FIFA responded to criticism over its proposed private investment plan involving World Cup and other events, saying "nobody is selling football". It said FIFA would permanently own and control the new subsidiary. All 211 member associations would receive $20 million in development funding from 2027-30, while an optional additional $20-million programme would be financed through external investment.
