FIFA WC 2026 equals record for most own goals in tournament history

Tunisian captain Ellyes Skhiri's own goal against the Netherlands in their Group F match on Friday (IST) took the tally of own goals at the FIFA World Cup 2026 to 12. With that, the tournament equalled the record for the most own goals in a single men's FIFA World Cup, previously set at the 2018 edition in Russia.
