Fill Kozhikode runway end with sand to arrest overshooting aircraft: Panel

A high-level committee which had been appointed to look into the Kozhikode crash that killed 21 people in August 2020 has recommended that the end of the 90-metre Runway End Safety Area (RESA) should be filled with sand or soil. The committee said that the sand or soil should have a depth of fifteen centimetres to arrest an overshooting aircraft.
