Flavio Briatore returns to F1 16-years after 'Crashgate Scandal'

Flavio Briatore is making a noteworthy return to Formula 1, having been appointed as the Executive Advisor for the Renault-backed Alpine team. Briatore was banned in 2009 due to his involvement in the notorious Crashgate scandal. During the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, Briatore and Pat Symonds had instructed driver Nelson Piquet Jr. to crash deliberately to favour Fernando Alonso.
