Flood disaster declared in Bangkok after 2 days of heavy rain

Bangkok authorities have declared a flood disaster across all 50 districts after 2 days of heavy rainfall. Nearly 300 millimetres of rain was recorded in parts of Bangkok, with floodwater entering homes, shops and restaurants, AFP reported. Bangkok is vulnerable to flooding because it is largely built on former marshland and sits only around 1.5 metres above sea level.
