Floods caused losses of nearly $1.5 billion: Malaysian govt

The Malaysian government on Friday reported losses of 6.1 billion ringgit (nearly $1.5 billion) due to floods with heavy damage to homes, businesses and factories. The report stated that damage to infrastructure caused losses of 2 billion ringgit ($490 million). This comes after around 50 residents were killed and over one lakh displaced due to floods from mid-December to early-January.
