Florida deploys drones to release sterile mosquitoes

Florida’s Lee County Mosquito Control District is launching drones to release thousands of laboratory-sterilized male mosquitoes. This tech-driven initiative targets the invasive, disease-carrying Aedes aegypti species. By utilizing the Sterile Insect Technique, the project aims to safely suppress the pest population in hard-to-reach areas without using chemical pesticides.
