Flowers bloom in Chile's Atacama Desert in rare occurrence due to El Niño rains

Heavy El Niño rains have brought millions of dormant seeds to life in Chile's Atacama Desert, one of Earth's driest places, transforming it into a "flowering desert" in a rare occurrence. Seeds and bulbs from around 200 different species, lying dormant underneath, have now bloomed, with the peak expected in October. The spectacle has drawn a large number of visitors.
