FM announces container manufacturing scheme with ₹10,000 cr outlay

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in Budget 2026, proposed a scheme to promote container manufacturing and create a globally competitive ecosystem in the sector. For this, she announced a budgetary allocation of ₹10,000 crore over a five-year period. In her Budget speech, she also proposed a new Dedicated Freight Corridor connecting Dankuni in the East to Surat in the West.
