For the 1st time, Apple allows 3rd party app stores on iOS

Forced by EU's Digital Markets Act, Apple has opened its iPhone ecosystem allowing rival app stores, alternate payments by developers sans commissions and flexibility in pricing/distribution. But critics say the changes are limited just to Europe while the core status quo largely continues across the world.
