Foreign-born athletes won 19 of Bahrain’s 22 Asian Games medals
Bahrain finished as the highest-ranked Arab country at 2026 Asian Games with 22 medals, including 11 gold and five silver. As many as 19 of the 22 medals were clinched by foreign-born athletes from countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Egypt and Sudan. Bahrain’s runner Birhanu Balew, who won gold in the men’s 5,000m and 10,000m events, was born in Ethiopia.
