Former Afghan warlord Hekmatyar enters presidential race

A former warlord accused of war crimes entered Afghanistan's presidential race on Saturday in a new challenge to President Ashraf Ghani. Fighters of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who has pledged to restore peace and security, killed thousands in Kabul during the civil war of the 1990s. Notably, Ghani had allowed Hekmatyar to return from exile.
