Former Army Chief General VN Sharma passes away at 96

Former Army Chief General Vishwa Nath Sharma passed away on Friday at the age of 96. He served as the Army Chief from 1988 to 1990 and was the younger brother of Major Somnath Sharma, the first soldier to be awarded Param Vir Chakra. He is an alumnus of IMA Dehradun and was commissioned into 16 Light Cavalry in 1950.
