Former Chief Justice of India who introduced PIL passes away

Former Chief Justice of India (CJI) PN Bhagwati, who is credited with introducing the concept of Public Interest Litigation (PIL), passed away aged 95 on Thursday. As a Supreme Court judge, he had ruled that a person does not need any locus standi, or the right or capacity to appear in court on issues related to fundamental rights.
