Former guv jailed for 22 yrs for 'ordering killings' in Russia
Former governor of Russia's Khabarovsk region, Sergei Furgal, was sentenced to 22 years in prison on Friday, days after being convicted of attempted murder and ordering contract killings of business rivals. Furgal was arrested in 2020. He defeated incumbent Vyacheslav Shport in a 2018 election to become Khabarovsk's governor. Shport is a member of President Vladimir Putin's United Russia Party.
