Former South Korean President jailed for corruption pardoned
South Korea's Justice Ministry said the government has pardoned ex-President Park Geun-hye, who was serving a 22-year prison term for corruption. Park, the country’s first female President, was convicted of abuse of power and coercion in 2018 after she was impeached the previous year. Park's pardon is aimed at overcoming past divisions and promoting national unity, the ministry added.
