France begins trial in teacher's beheading over prophet cartoons

The trial of eight people in connection with the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty began on Monday under high security in Paris. Paty was killed outside his school on October 16, 2020, for showing caricatures of Prophet Muhammad to his class students for a lesson on freedom of expression. An 18-year-old assailant, who beheaded Paty, was shot dead by police.
