France's new US ambassador begins mission after diplomatic row

Aurelien Lechevallier officially took up his post as France's ambassador to the US this week, the French embassy confirmed on Thursday. His appointment had been delayed after a diplomatic dispute over France's criticism of the US vote against extending the UN human rights chief's term. The row was resolved after France's UN mission apologised in September.
