France takes over EU Presidency with aim for 'more sovereign Europe'

France on Friday took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union with an aim to work towards a "more sovereign Europe". "Europe must rise to...major economic, educational, migration and military challenges," French President Emmanuel Macron said. Notably, this comes a few months ahead of the 2022 French presidential election that is scheduled to be held in April.
