France to increase defence spending by a third: Prez Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday announced a major increase in military spending in view of evolving threats from Russia and China. Macron said France will earmark €413 billion on defence from 2024 to 2030. This is an increase of €118 billion from the period between 2019 to 2025. Macron made the announcement during a speech to military personnel.
