France wildfires force nearly 3,000 people to evacuate

Nearly 3,000 people were evacuated after wildfires spread across southern France following a record-breaking heatwave. Firefighters deployed water-bombing helicopters and hundreds of personnel to battle the blazes as strong winds fuelled the flames. Authorities warned that the unusually early wildfires, coupled with another spell of hot weather next week, could further increase the risk.
