France's World Cup-winning footballer Mendy charged with raping 3 women aged over 16

France's 2018 World Cup-winning footballer Benjamin Mendy has been charged with raping and sexually assaulting three women aged over 16. The 27-year-old defender, who plays for defending Premier League champions Manchester City, has been immediately suspended by the club pending an investigation. The crimes have been alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021.
